Telehealth throughout California

When things feel uncertain, our light is always on.

Specialized psychiatric care for adolescents and young adults ages 10 to 25 throughout California.

If you are looking for a provider who truly specializes in adolescents, you are in the right place. Yellow House Behavioral Health is a private telehealth psychiatry practice serving adolescents and young adults ages 10 to 25 throughout California. Founded by Anne Rossell, PMHNP-BC, the practice is built on thoughtful listening, deep clinical expertise, and a commitment to helping families better understand what is going on and how to move forward with clarity.

Why Families Come to Yellow House

Because you know your child needs something more.

You have already started the process. Your child is in therapy. You have put supports in place. You are paying attention. You are doing everything you are supposed to do and still, something feels off.

Maybe progress has plateaued. Maybe symptoms are changing or getting harder to understand. Maybe your therapist has started to suggest that something more might be going on, or that it may be time to take a closer look. Or maybe no one has said it clearly yet, but you can feel it. Parents usually know.

You might be noticing more worry than usual, big mood swings, frequent tears, or a loss of interest in things they used to enjoy. Maybe mornings and school have become a struggle. Sleep or appetite may be changing, your child may be spending more time on their phone, or pulling away from friends and family.

Things just feel harder than they should, and you cannot quite put your finger on why. Something feels off. You know something has shifted, but you are not entirely sure what is underneath it or what to do next.

That is usually the point where families find us.

This is where specialization matters.

Anne Rossell, PMHNP-BC, has built her career around adolescent psychiatry. Since 2012, she has specialized in adolescent care, working across inpatient, residential, foster care, outpatient, and community based settings, including Horsham Clinic, Wayside Youth and Family Support Network, McLean Hospital, and Casa Pacifica.

Anne understands how nuanced this stage of life is, the neurobiology, the emotional intensity, the pressure, the uncertainty, and the role parents play in helping things stabilize. She has worked with a wide range of presentations, from adjustment and transitional stress to more complex and persistent conditions, and knows how to step in when things are not moving in the right direction.

Her goal is simple: to help you understand what is going on, bring a clear plan into focus, and show you that things can get better with the right support.

Care That Takes Adolescents Seriously

Because once you understand what is going on, the next step is making sure it is handled the right way.

Putting a young person on medication is a meaningful decision, and it deserves to be approached with care.

Yellow House was created to offer the kind of psychiatric care many families are looking for but often struggle to find: careful evaluation, real listening, clinical depth, and the time needed to make thoughtful decisions.

Treatment is never about rushing to prescribe. Sometimes medication is the right next step. Sometimes it is not. Sometimes the best plan is to continue therapy, gather more information, and follow closely over time.

The goal is not to move quickly. The goal is to get it right.

How It Works

Getting started is straightforward. Here is our process.

3

Ongoing Care

Follow up appointments every 4 to 8 weeks to monitor progress, adjust the treatment plan when needed, and stay connected as things evolve.

Is Yellow House Right for Us?

Yellow House may be a good fit if any of the following sounds familiar.

Your child is struggling with increased worry, low mood, poor focus, mood changes, sleep or appetite issues, and something just feels off.

Your child is already in therapy but you are wondering whether a medication evaluation should be part of the plan.

You want a provider who specializes in adolescents, not a general adult practice that also sees teenagers.

Your child is already on medication but you are not confident the current plan is the right fit, or your child is having increased side effects.

You want a psychiatric provider who will take time with your family, not a rushed 10 minute appointment.

You are looking for telehealth care that works around your family's schedule, with evening and weekend availability from anywhere in California.

Yellow House serves patients ages 10 to 25. If you are unsure whether this is the right fit, feel free to reach out and ask.

Why Yellow House

Yellow House was built around the idea of being a safe, steady place during a difficult time.

It is the house with the light still on, warm, grounded, and open when things feel uncertain.

Adolescence can be overwhelming for young people and for parents. Yellow House was created to be a place where both feel heard, where care is thoughtful, and where families can get help navigating what comes next.

Parents Are Part of the Process

When an adolescent is struggling, parents are carrying a great deal as well.

They are trying to understand what is happening, how serious it is, what the options are, and how to make the right decision for their child.

Yellow House recognizes that good adolescent psychiatric care includes parents. You deserve to be heard, informed, and guided through the process with honesty and clarity.

Meet Anne Rossell, PMHNP-BC

Anne Rossell is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who has dedicated her career to working with adolescents and young adults. She chose this population intentionally in a field where it is often seen as especially complex, because she understands how important this stage of life is and how much the right care can change the trajectory.

Adolescence is not a smaller version of adulthood. It is a unique and rapidly changing stage shaped by development, identity, social pressure, academic demands, family dynamics, and the increasing influence of technology. It can feel overwhelming quickly, for both adolescents and their families.

Anne has worked with adolescents across inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings, including training at McLean Hospital and Wayside Youth and Family Support Network. She has experience with a wide range of presentations, from situational challenges to more complex and persistent conditions.

Her approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and never rushed. She works closely with families and coordinates with therapists and other providers to ensure a clear and connected understanding of each situation.

Her goal is to help you understand what is going on, feel confident in the next steps, and know that things can get better with the right support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Stimulant medications can be effective when used appropriately. However, ADHD symptoms can sometimes overlap with anxiety, depression, trauma, or mood disorders. For this reason, the evaluation process focuses on understanding the full clinical picture before deciding on treatment. Sometimes addressing mood or anxiety first can improve attention and focus.
Yes. Parent or guardian should attend the initial evaluation. The first appointment involves gathering a detailed history, and parents can often provide important background information that helps clarify the clinical picture. They will also need to give consent for any medications.
Medication should never feel forced. Treatment decisions are collaborative. Adolescents are much more likely to benefit when they understand and feel comfortable with the treatment plan.
Yes, medication is rarely the only part of treatment. Therapy often plays an important role in helping adolescents develop coping skills and long term resilience. Therapy should be in place before a medication consult is recommended.
Many adolescents come to Yellow House already on medication. In these situations the first appointment includes a careful review of current medications, previous trials, and treatment history to determine the best next step.
Yellow House Behavioral Health is a private pay practice and does not bill insurance directly.
